Mechanical Technician

Platinum Recruiting is currently looking for a Mechanical Technician for a Direct Hire in the Greater Huntsville, AL area. This position will be responsible for : Electrical repairs consistent with ensuring equipment performs so as not to impede production. Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, and numerical control machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and non metallic parts by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Repairs, maintains and installs electrical components, wiring and electrical equipment of all machinery and buildings of the plant.          
  • Locates, determines reason for electrical failures and carries out necessary repairs.
  • Ensures all electrical parts, wiring and equipment conform to electrical code requirements and are operating in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Performs preventative electrical maintenance procedures as required.
  • Replaces electrical components, motor parts and wiring as required.         
  • Conducts electrical tests and maintains maintenance and repair records as required.
  • May test and repair electronic components and equipment.
  • Complies with requirements as outlined in the company handbook.
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
  • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly.
  • Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
  • Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts.
  • Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated.
  • Comply with requirements as outlined in the company handbook and the OHSA.
  • Inspects all machinery for defects and potential problems in accordance with preventative maintenance program, repairing and replacing parts as required.
  • Ensures fluid levels are maintained at appropriate levels in respective equipment and machinery.
  • Orders appropriate replacement parts as necessary with approval from maintenance manager and through stores.
  • Provides guidance and training to others as required.
  • Complies with requirements as outlined in the company handbook.

Education and/or Experience

Associates degree or four or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
