Operations Manager

Platinum Recruiting is currently seeking an Operations Manager for a local manufacturing company. This position will be responsibile for leading all manufacturing operations in the plant to understand plant metrics, the business plan and how and when to react to correct or improve performance in the plant. Disciplines/department reporting to this position are: Production / Process.


  • Lean Leader for areas under his/her responsibility – Engages his/her teams to implement our Production System in their respective areas, ensuring execution of each one of the WPS elements.
  • Maintains the work force of his/her areas fully engaged and motivated to achieve plant goals and objectives
  • Leads by Example working with his/her teams to implement all WOL Standards and provide action plans to ensure proper implementation
  • Motivates and coaches his/her team to identify opportunities during Gemba Walks in order to eliminate/decrease waste improving SCRAP/CYCLE TIMES, using proper WPS tools such as LTR/VSMs/SPC/OEE, others.
  • Functions as a backup to cover and support the Plant Manager as needed
  • This position deals directly with customers/suppliers and interacts directly and constantly with ALL Corporate Discipline Leaders.
  • Budget – Ensure predetermined budgets are met for KPIs such as but not limited to: YIELDs/SCRAPs/Down TIME/ OEE and its components/PPMs/COPQ/ Deliveries, etc
  • Identifies the gaps and areas where the focus needs to be to meet budgets and have a profitable Operations Department
  • HSE – Establishes priorities with his/her team to ensure all HSE elements gaps are identified and establish proper plans to fully implement each HSE element. Play an essential role in the health & safety and quality audit process


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business
  • 10 years progressive related experience at a management level on different disciplines or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience to perform the requirements of the position.
  • Strongly demonstrated general management skills including team building, JIT process based manufacturing, automotive industry experience, cost management, material/logistics, forecasting and planning, problem solving, conflict resolution, quality management, strong customer relationship background and attitude.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation including Health and Safety & Environment and Employment, Industrial Relations, accounting principles and supply contract administration.
  • In depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S, Kaizen.
