Engineering Manager

Summary: This position is responsible for all aspects of manufacturing engineering for Equipment
Centers, the general oversight of the designers, assigning equipment center design projects to designers,
interfacing with project managers for review, answering technical design questions, checking designs for
accuracy and build ability, coordinating with states for state approval, setup and maintenance of
solidworks, and adhering to all quality assurance procedures related to design functions. This position
contributes to both sustaining and new development efforts. The position will function as a hands-on
technical leader and participate in strategic planning for the organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Assure completion of jobs on time
  • Resolve any special manufacturing process needs
  • Assist with Technical Details
  • Perform checks and testing as required
  • Setup and maintenance of solidworks
  • Coordinate with PE on calculations and advisories
  • Guide the process of State Approval
  • Creation and Maintenance of drawing standards
  • Helps develop production test plans, requirements and specifications
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, and other legal and regulatory requirements
  • Working with quality assurance, determines root cause through failure investigation and develops and implements corrective and preventive action as required
  • Motivates and manages staff to work closely with production, supply chain, quality, and safety
  • Participates in the selection, development, performance appraisal, merit recommendation, and promotion of department staff
  • Assign projects and check work of designers
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to be a working leader by managing engineering team while taking responsibility for support of our product line
  • Ability to operate PC with knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar software packages
  • Ability to use ERP system
  • Strong oral and written communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to analyze and organize data with an attention to detail
  • Ability to drive quality and productivity improvements
  • Experience with defined process improvement techniques
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Solidworks
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities effectively and be able to identify and recommend best course of action from several alternatives
  • Skilled at creating a team environment that supports a common vision
  • Proficient at effectively prioritizing goals, assessing team capability, and coordinating resources to achieve those goals

Education, Training & Certification:

  • B.S. Civil Engineering or equal experience

Experience:

  • Must have working knowledge of International Building Codes, National Electric Code (or Canadian Equivalent).
  • Thorough Technical knowledge of AutoCAD and Solidworks
  • 5 Years of experience in design of equipment centers with AutoCAD and Solidworks
