Manufacturing Engineer

Job Scope

  • Investigate and analyze established manufacturing processes and molds.
  • Modify, correct and improve all aspects of the processes including methods, procedures, equipment, molds, cycles, automation, peripheral and secondary equipment, work flow, documentation, part inspection, statistical application, molding parameters, packaging, etc.
  • Initiate associated cost reduction while maintaining capability to meet customers' requirements.
  • Process MWO (mold work order) for mold repair or revision. •
  • Set-up manufacturing process for production including packaging, handling, parts flow, quality, assembly, secondary operations, etc.
  • Coordinate with customer to resolve production problems.
  • Establish quality and production procedures and ensures capability of customer requirements and our client capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot production problems associated with specific molds, projects, or customer.
  • Understand cavity pressure applications.
  • Evaluate and investigate new equipment offerings from manufactures of molding machines, related peripheral equipment and new process enhancements. Recommend purchase.
  • Aid in identification of technical training needs and development of appropriate instruction plans. Conduct on-the-job and classroom training for individuals or small groups in production and production related departments.
  • Involved in improvement task forces for mold repair, set-up reduction, capability studies, etc.
  • Participate in pre-design and pre-production meetings for new molds and projects. • Basic knowledge of current thermoplastic resins. Investigate and evaluate new resins for process, shrinkage, flow, etc. in actual production environment.
  • Review production standards and update where needed.
  • Support the Quality Engineering Department in determining root causes and corrective actions for customer complaints.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.


EDUCATION LEVEL • Technical bachelors’ degree or equivalent training/experience.


JOB TRAINING & EXPERIENCE • Over one year up to and including two years production experience in job shop custom injection molding.


KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED • Plastic molding technology, mold design and function. • Plastic resin processing characteristics, molding machine functions. • Automation concepts. • Cost analysis. • SPC & Inspection technology, statistics and design of experiments. • World class manufacturing principles. • Communications skills and company objectives. • Interpersonal skills. • Written and verbal communication skills.
