Material Scientist/Chemist

Chemist Job Description:

The candidate must have a degree in Polymer Chemistry or Materials Science or related fields. Necessary skills include knowledge of polymer chemistry, computational skills, and report writing. Must have capability and know how of:

Analytical instruments including FESEM and Light Microscopes, EDAX/EDS, GC, FTIR, UV-VIS, viscometer, and should be willing to learn additional non-microscopy analytical methods for product evaluation.

Polymer characterization tools and techniques using SEM, optical microscopes, BET, porosimeter, TGA, and DSC, and should also be willing to learn additional analytical methods for product evaluation.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills, experience in leading projects from proposal effort to preparation of final reports, and excellent team working skills


  • Develop and maintain laboratory procedures/protocols
  • Provide routine analytical services for the company’s quality programs
  • Design analytical experiments/collect/analyze/report data for research and commercial efforts
  • Lead prototype and manufacturing development from customer-specifications
  • Develop specifications and supporting data for new process and product concepts, and generate project reports
  • Support process modification and development
  • Prepare project work plan, schedule, and budget



  • BS/MS in Materials, polymer, chemical engineering (or equiv.)
  • 4+ years of degree-related work experience
  • “Hands-On” experience with tools and machinery an added plus
  • Good written, verbal, and analytical skills and ability to work on several projects.
