Structural Engineer

Structural Engineer     

This position is responsible for assisting engineering manager, designing complete structural systems, interfacing with project managers for review and customer communication, answering technical design questions, checking designs for accuracy and build ability, maintenance of solidworks, providing engineering support to manufacturing, and adhering to all quality assurance procedures related to design functions. This position contributes to both sustaining and new development efforts.  The position will function as a hands-on technical leader.


Essential Functions:


  • Backup Engineering Manager if necessary
  • Prepare complete, detailed drawing packages for structural portions of each project from basic design criteria
  • Work from sketches, customer specifications, PE advisories, or general instructions from project managers
  • Make calculations, determine scales, insert reference points, prepare specifications, and contribute design modifications
  • Communicate with engineering, production, project management and management to ensure designs meet customer requirements
  • Expedite drawings and BOM’s through the proper internal channels
  • Make corrections as needed to drawing package for the structural portions
  • Check work of other designers
  • Assure completion of jobs on time
  • Research NEC code requirements for building clearances
  • Resolve any special manufacturing process needs
  • Assist with Technical Details
  • Assist with maintenance of solidworks
  • Assist with maintenance of drawing standards
  • Assist in coordination of PE calculations and advisories
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, and other legal and regulatory requirements
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to analyze and organize data with an attention to detail
  • Ability to drive quality and productivity improvements
  • Experience with defined process improvement techniques
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Solidworks
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities effectively and be able to identify and recommend best course of action from several alternatives
  • Proficient at effectively prioritizing goals, assessing team capability, and coordinating resources to achieve those goals

Education, Training & Certification:  

  • Associates Degree in Engineering or equal experience



  • Must have working knowledge of Building Codes
  • Thorough Technical knowledge of AutoCAD and Solidworks
  • 3 Years of experience in design of equipment centers or equivalent with AutoCAD and Solidworks
